The Sunday lectionary NT epistle for Lent 3 is 1 Cor 10.1–13. The gospel lectionary reading is Luke 13.1–9.
Paul engages in his characteristic Christological reading, drawing parallels between the experience of Israel on their Exodus journey through the wilderness and the experience of the new Israel in Jesus as they share bread and wine. The idea that ‘the Rock was Christ’ parallels other Jewish readings of this episode, where the rock that sprung water symbolised God’s wisdom and his word, thus creating parallels with the language of the Fourth Gospel of Jesus as wisdom, word, and food from God.

AH, here we are doing business in great waters!
Is Paul inculcating the teaching of Jesus here?
Certainly, he points to “the holy Scriptures” {OT.}
As Jesus said, John 5:39.
Paul counselled th e holy Scriptures are able to make you wise unto /about Salvation, 2 Tim 3:15.
Jesus warned of the leaven of the Pharisees and Herod. Mark 8:15.
Paul warns that a little leaven leavens the whole lump.
Hence flirting [which is the first movement in beginning a relationship {or not} with paganism, uncleanness, perversion may lead to embracing in/with an unholy alliance with those who take Pride in their perverse behaviour.
Thinking “Oh flirting is just a bit of fun I will not be beguiled into
a serious relationship. Take heed they who think proudly that they cannot fall is folly
1 Cor 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
1 Cor 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:
1 Cor 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Gal 5:9 A little leaven leavens’ the whole lump.
