The Tyndale New Testament Study Group is part of the Tyndale Fellowship for biblical and theological research, based at Tyndale House in Cambridge, and including evangelical scholars from all over the world.
The 2020 NT Study Group will be meeting with all the study groups for the interdisciplinary Quadrennial Tyndale Fellowship Conference at High Leigh Conference Centre in Hertfordshire from Monday 29th June to Wed 1st July 2020. Our theme this year (for all the groups together) is Doing Theology in a World on the Move – Migration, Borders and Citizenship.
We would welcome proposals of papers on any issue of scholarly debate on issues relating to this, which might include subjects relating to:
- movement and dispersion in the Book of Acts
- the language in e.g. 1 Peter of ‘aliens and sojourners’
- themes of discipleship and citizenship in Philippians and elsewhere
- the significance of Pentecost and its echoes of the Babel story in Genesis with its mixing of languages
- the ministry of Jesus at the borders of Israel
- NT reception of Old Testament exodus or exile figures or motifs
- the teaching of Paul in Romans 13 on good citizenship
- Revelation’s language of ‘tribes, languages, peoples and nations’
or other relevant New Testament issues. Alongside the main theme, there will also be space to hear papers on other issues in NT study as in previous years.
The study group is a great opportunity to engage with the best of evangelical scholarship, and to meet other scholars from around the world.
If you would like to offer a paper, either on the main theme, or on another area of NT study, please send a proposal (of not more than 300 words) to the group’s Secretary, Dr Nick Moore [email protected] by Tuesday 1st October 2019. We are always interested in hearing from established scholars but also in encouraging younger scholars and those still engaged in initial research.
The full programme will be published before the end of the year; online booking is already open on the website.
We would also be interested to hear expressions of interest in offering papers for the successive three years as well:
2021 Later Pauline Epistles: Ephesians, Colossians, Philemon and the Pastorals
2022 Ethics and moral transformation in the New Testament
2023 The Holy Spirit in the New Testament

Thanks for this; is possible to send a paper without attending the conference?
I am not quite sure what purpose this would serve. We listen to papers presented, not read by someone else…
Thanks
Thanks for the information. I’m interested in attending and presenting a paper during the 2020 conference. A young scholar from Nairobi Kenya. I also request for any other relevant information that can help me as a first-timer
Do please email Nick Moore on the email above. thanks.
Thanks, Dr. Paul. Quick question: does one need to be a member of Tyndale Fellowship to present?
No, you don’t, but you need to be in sympathy with its aims and commitments.
I am interested in writing a paper from the Book of Acts. Since I was introduced very recently about Tyndale, I couldn’t send my proposal. I’m interested in the upcoming conference if any?
You can sign up at the Tyndale web page linked. I will be publishing the programme next week.
I want to know more about this Tyndale NT study group, do you provide papers for us to study please I need more information but I love studying the bible thanks
Yes you can find information about it in the Tyndale links in the article. We did not meet this year because of the pandemic, but hope to next.
